Grant Scoring
Grant Guidelines
About Fountain Hills Elks Youth Grants:
Grants up to $2,500 are awarded.
Grants are intended to contribute to the excellence of the educational and extra curricular activities within the Fountain Hills Public School system and Fountain Hills organized youth clubs.
They enable pilot projects or events that otherwise would not occur due to limited funding.
The grants are intended to provide seed money rather than provide ongoing funding or fill holes in budgets.
Scholarships are available to students on track to graduate from Fountain Hills High School who volunteer a minimum of 50 hours with the Fountain Hills Elks. Scholarships are available for university/college and vocational training.
Fountain Hills Elks Youth Grants may not be used for:
Compensation for time and/or services for public school personnel or grant applicants.
Substitute teachers or teachers aides.
Applicants to participate in seminars, college courses, or workshops. The only exception to this is a scholarship grant.
A team of volunteers will review the grant applications and submit their scores. Grant applications with the highest scores will receive funds. Grant proposals are selected to receive financial awards based upon the level of the Fountain Hills Elks Youth Project available funds. The list of scoring criteria includes the following:
Proposes innovative projects that do not currently exist in the Fountain Hills Public Schools.
Expands or complements some aspect of an existing program in a new way.
Focus on creative and unique learning experiences that enrich students learning.
Very clearly and concisely describe goals, objectives, and/or expected outcomes of the project.
Provide detailed budgets and expenditures.
Describe an evaluation plan that is likely to be an effective way of measuring success.
Help spark students sense of discovery and enthusiasm for learning.
Appear to be realistic and feasible within the time and budget described.
Create a collaboration between Fountain Hills youth and Town of Fountain Hills.
Include a statement from their administrator or leadership indicating that they support the request for funds. Without this statement an application cannot be accepted.
Awarded Grants
Upon approval of a grant, funds will be given to the administrator or club leadership to oversee expenditures. Any item purchased with grant funds becomes the property of the Fountain Hills School District or Fountain Hills Youth Club, not the project applicant.
